"What may be of some concern is that 67.50% of crafters plan to be in the Human alliance, whereas only 9.90% will be Alfar crafters. If we assume that 1/4 of players roll an Alfar, it looks like they could be struggling to find a good crafter."

Thats a major impact for the baddies...Hopefully I can use that to my advantage though, cutting deals with the baddies to make major bucks, due to limited crafters on their side of the fence...

As the market changes I can almost gaurantee that people will fill the slots in the market that appear. Ive seen it in countless games. If there is a buck to be made and one opportunity for it 100 people will still go for it.

And the difference between me and the other 100 people is I have a heads up and can get ahead of the game...Hopefully, course I'm just speculating as i'm waiting on my account to be activated. >.>
Still if I catch wind of anything that will help me get a firm foot in the markets i'm going to go for it.

The biggest competition we will have are what I have dubbed the "crafting whores". These are the people that want to be liked so they spend a lot of time harvesting resources to make stuff and give to people in the hopes that those people will be their friends. Some of those friends will even provide some of the resources back to these "crafters" in the hopes that they will continue providing them with free labor. Most clans that advertise that they are looking for a "clan crafter" are hoping to find one of these people. Unfortunately, their prevalence will depress the demand for goods and services far more then this 6% figure indicates. (Why buy the cow when your getting the milk for free?)

To use the term mgardner used I don't mind being a "crafting whore" to my guildmates. Selling to my guild at cost will only benefit the guild in the long run. Thing I'm worried about are the people that do this even outside their guild (if they have one). If you are doing this please stop. It will only hurt the Darkfall economy in the long run. The crafters will become the poor "class" of the game and will leave. Then because there is no one to make the goods the adventurers/PvPers will have to make their own, which won't be fun for them, and some of them will start leaving. So, in essence, you will only be contributing to the snowball effect of the downfall of Darkfall.

Lucky for us though it looks like the 'crafting' crowd is going to be a lot less prevalent than the full PvP/PvE folks. Meaning that if a few crafters start undercutting the market, it might not be to visible, and if they really do become a problem...Well the thats when the beauty of a full PvP world comes into play, if you catch my drift.

I think the important tings for all of the crafters do is Communicate. Let the other crafters in game know about this forum. Adhere to the prices that we establish here, I would recommend again that you advertise you are member of DMA. The sooner the crafters associated with DMA establish a reputation as fair, reliable and consistant. the sooner we will have the ability to run off the players that deliberately seek to depress or undercut the market for a quick buck, or the players that go shopping among the crafters (anyone been ganked at the workbench yet? say goodbye to your two hours of farming!!)

I am a clan crafter at present, and All of my crafting is being purchased at discount from the clan and allies. Since my clan has a city, and that city is isolated, im trading that discount for the security and protection of the clan (i had clan guards with me the other night when i went out scouting the countryside for nodes.)

I dont think being a clan crafter will come in conflict with the lone merchant, because Security has value. the lone merchant is forgoeing the security for the higher prices they will command(And receive, since i wont leave the safety of my city). i find this acceptable.

What do you all think about the usefullness of a forum section specifically for each merchant to list their wares/prices which could then be linked or referred to in game? As an example. . . .

*In game chat* WTS: Chain(60g) and banded(250g) armor in Sanguine {Please see my shop listing at www.dfmerchants.com for other goods/services}

Maybe not word for word but you get the gist of it. It would allow a reference to the forum where prospective buyers could browse the many merchants and goods.

Input is welcome. It would be easy enough to add the section for it but I wanted to get some viewpoints on it first.

Thats a fantastic idea as long as its only possible for 1 person to have 1 'page' associated to them. Otherwise it gets messy and isnt practical.

Also: the actual 'crafters' displaying things should have a different color'd name in the forums, so when people read other posts - they know to look up a persons name if its say: Green or blue (as opposed to just red or the default color).

Also: to have some true value - and not get flooded with a bunch of people who are new crafters all making the same stuff, I would suggest that there is some kind of skill requirement to register as a crafter on the site. i would say no less than 50, but probably more like 75 of a given trade in order to register. This way you know that the person is actually a dedicated crafter and not just someone whos managed to skill up to 50 making arrows for himself.
