Well as the old saying goes, "Time is money." In almost any case this essentially is true. When you take time to do something such as harvesting you are not making money doing this. You only make the money once the materials themselves are sold or are crafted into something else. Both of these things take even more time to do and while you are doing this you are not harvesting. So essentially by doing this you are actually losing potential money you could be making through time put into harvesting. Not sure if I worded that right but that is pretty much a summary of it as it is a bit more complex.
