I managed to energy drink (very little sleep) my way through the "pre-order" process and secure a spot. The client download took about 12 hours which was done overnight and was relatively painless for me at least.
This week is the first of two weeks of vacation for me that I scheduled with the intention of remodeling a bathroom the first week and gaming the second. . . . . Of course, as it goes with most remodels, I'm behind scedule. Then again, so is the computer delivery I'm waiting for and the hopes of a decent Darkfall session are looking slimmer in the short term. Perhaps the Devs will deliver quickly but I think it's more likely that any marathon sessions of playing Darkfall are a little ways out on the horizon.
I did manage to get in about 4 hours when the server was up and before the sync issues grew to the point of being unplayable, I was enjoying the game. Once the game became unplayable from a combat angle I focused on gathering materials for crafting. When the servers come back up I have a fairly decent supply of raw materials to work with once I kill a few goblins so I can buy some crafting tools and skills.
I wasn't in beta so the game world was fresh to me. It is immersive and pretty much what I was hoping for. The conduct of players was surprising with little griefing and general helpfulness. I hope it can survive this disaster of a launch/pre-launch and the lack of server capacity in order to develop to its true potential. I'm not terribly optimistic though

The best bet probably would have been to wait a few more weeks before joining. As it sits now. . . . I've sampled the game and found it fun and have to sit and wait to continue.
Not enough room for the perspective customer base, a barely functional sign up/billing system for the spots that ARE available and a non-functioning game world for those that are already in. Not a great start Aventurine
